In a recent retrospective telephone survey, 91.5% of Montana Academy graduates had completed a high school diploma and 65% had already gone on to college. The list of colleges to which at least one alumnus had been accepted now includes: Antioch, Auburn, Berkeley College of Music, Boston College, Brown, UC San Diego, University of Chicago, Clark, Dartmouth, Emerson, Evergreen, Lewis and Clark, Gonzaga, University of Montana, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina, Northeastern, NYU, University of Oregon, Rutgers, Smith, Syracuse, Temple, University of Vermont, Wesleyan, Whitman, University of Wisconsin, Willamette and Whittier. Among students entering after 2000, 83.3% of parents and alumni rated Montana Academy's academic preparation as "good" or "great."
In the same survey, 86% of alumni and 88% of parents reported that family work at Montana Academy had improved family communication; and 86% of alumni and 84% of their parents reported that this therapy experience had significantly improved family relationships. Most (87%) parents thought their alumni children were making good life choices.
Prior to their enrollment at Montana Academy, parents thought, 61% of students had significant problems with substance use. However, on follow-up, only 13% of parents thought that substance use was a significant problem.
Among alumni, 79% reported they exercise at least a few times each week. Among alumni, 58% reported that they watched less than an hour of television per day. Many alumni report participation in service organizations, Greek societies and religious denominations.
The overwhelming majority of alumni (92%) and parents (93%) rated their experience at Montana Academy as worthwhile, 94% of parents described this expensive experience as worth the time and money, and 90% reported that, under the same circumstances, they would again enroll a son or daughter at Montana Academy.
