Experience:
I’ve always been drawn to work with teens and young adults. So much is happening at that time in life and so many important parts of ourselves begin to emerge and arrange themselves for the rest of our lives. Despite frequent cries for independence, the relationships we have in young adulthood and how we engage in them are tremendously important for continued growth. After several years in the field of experiential education I made the decision to pursue a career as a clinical social worker after encountering a significant need for mental health care on college campuses. My clinical internships included full time positions at an adolescent residential program and a college psychological services center, both in Southern Vermont. Before joining the staff at MA I was in practice in Lafayette, Colorado, where I specialized in working with young adults, men and couples. I was also a therapist for a transitional program for young-adults and a non-profit community clinic in Boulder before deciding to join Montana Academy. The strength and tradition of the program and my first-hand experience of the staff and students were what drew me here. While not on campus I spend lots of time with my dog making sure we both get enough time outside every day.
